Some countries have specific requirements for how the user interface of a fire protection system appears and functions. In the United States, this set of requirements is defined by the Underwriters Laboratories (UL) in the UL 864 specifications. In Canada, the relevant norms are the Underwriters Laboratories of Canada ULC 527-11.
 
 
NOTICE TO USERS, INSTALLERS, AUTHORITIES HAVING JURISDICTION, AND OTHER INVOLVED PARTIES
This product incorporates field-programmable software. In order for the product to comply with the requirements in the Standard for Control Units and Accessories for Fire Alarm Systems, UL 864/ULC S527, certain programming features or options must be limited to specific values or not used at all as indicated in the following tables.

UL 864/ULC S527-compliant systems handling building automation events (for example Alarms) at higher priority than fire events in the Supervisory and Trouble categories.
No, unless permitted by the Authority Having Jurisdiction.
Building Automation (BA) events can be mapped on different event categories using BACnet Notification Classes. By default, certain BA events have higher priority than Supervisory and Trouble events.
If required by Authority Having Jurisdiction, modify the Notification Class of BA events. We recommend using a BACnet event priority between 192 and 255 (Status category) for the To-Fault and To-Offnormal notifications.

Journaling Printout on UL 864/ULC S527-compliant Systems
UL 864/ULC S527-compliant fire systems must provide a journaling line printer that meets the related performance requirements of printing 50 event-related registrations in 90 seconds.
You must modify your printer’s default settings and select a pre-defined UL/ULC journaling template to ensure the printer meets the UL 864/ULC S527 requirements.
NOTE:
The printer settings shown in the following specification sections refer to the line printer model EPSON LQ-2090.
UL Journaling Template Specifications
The UL Template is a file named JournalingTemplate_UL.xml located at:
[installation drive:]\[installation folder]\[project]\profiles\JournalingUserTemplates.
You should use the UL template along with the line printer settings to ensure the required performance (50 Alarm-related events printed in 90 seconds). The UL Template has a condensed layout which results in a faster printout.

UL Journaling Line Printer Specifications
To print the journaling data of 50 Alarm-related events in 90 seconds (for UL 864 requirements), you may need modify the default and control panel settings for the configured journaling line printer (server printer). The line printer model EPSON LQ-2090 was tested and the default settings and control panel settings were modified to be UL 864 compliant as follows:

CAUTION
